Too often the longer term impact of major programmes is not measured and important lessons are lost.  It is crucial that benefits are continuously reviewed and refined throughout the life of a programme.  This is especially important with programmes extending over several months or years, as the original business case becomes less relevant to the current situation.

Benefits management begins at the inception of the business case and stretches beyond final handover of the programme, because the real rewards often do not accrue until the deliverables provided by the programme have become an established part of the operation.

From our work on a wide range of change programmes we have been able to develop a number of reliable techniques to ensure both hard and soft benefits become a reality for our clients.  Our experience shows that where benefits accrue at different stages of a programme life cycle, the cumulative effects do not necessarily follow a simple incremental pattern.

We understand how the cross-impact of individual projects in a programme can lead both to positive and negative results. Using this experience we work with clients to develop a set of tailored performance criteria that can take account of all the effects of the benefits stream at each stage and provide the basis for decisions about future course of action.
